Art Exhibition Guidelines

 

  1. Exhibits shall be planned far enough in advance to allow for:

-          artists to provide advance information about themselves & their work (to be hung with the exhibit & used for publicize the show),

-          plans to be made for an opening reception,

-          post cards and/or posters to be printed, mailed and/or distributed,

-          media information to be sent (minimum 3 week advance) to Gusto, Art Voice, et.al., and

-          previous exhibit to be taken down and walls prepped.

 

  1. All work to be exhibited must meet the approval of the art and leadership committees, keeping in mind the multi-purpose use of the BNAC as a community meeting place, an educational facility for students of all ages and backgrounds, and a public building utilized by people of all ages and backgrounds.

 

  1. There is no fee for displaying art work in the gallery.  The Friends of the BNAC are a volunteer group with no funding source.  We would appreciate a donation from the artist(s) based on sales or in appreciation for the opportunity to show in the gallery.

 

  1. The Friends of the Burchfield Nature and Art Center will provide publicity for the exhibit on our web sites and Facebook pages as well as notices to the media including ARTVOICE, GUSTO, and the West Seneca BEE. The artist may pulicize the show in other ways if they choose.  If the artist would like to produce a pamphlet or flier about work being displayed, they may do so at their own expense.

 

  1. All artwork must be delivered to the gallery ready to display. Wall pieces must have properly positioned hanging wire so piece hangs flush against wall – no saw-tooth or individual hangers accepted. No sculpture pieces over 100 lbs.

 

  1. Artists will need to provide a jpeg or other electronic format of artwork to be used for all publicity; along with title, medium, year completed and price or NFS noted for each piece. All must be provided at least 5 weeks before the opening.

 

  1. No artwork is insured by the BNAC or the Art Society. Artists must provide their own insurance coverage.

 

  1. The exhibit will be open to the public during the opening reception and regular Gallery Hours.
